Tonight the sky was especially clear and the stars glowed in the black sky and fell to gather at our feet with snow clouds still two hours away the music was just right as we danced and told stories and laughed deep into the night as the coals flared dancing with the winds and I fell asleep smiling our fresh water pearls irregular perfect treasures collected throughout a lifetime maybe one each day hopefully some each week carried along forever held close to the heart like Grandma's tattered paper sack rattled periodically in remembrance rattled methodically in self-assurance gathered in certain moments certain situations and certain circumstances no perfect world or perfect life just imperfect puzzle pieces Tonight alone on the couch I can remember the bitterness in the wine and the sweetness in the night air and the friendships of the moment that will last a lifetimeReturn to the diary
